Avant Propos - having "Bernard ben Tremblay" suspended for "Name Violation"
[to images | articles and posts]
I have submitted this page to Google as identity / name verification.
Previously I had provided them with LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and on and on ... even Blogger.com shows me using "ben"!
And with each submission (i.e. after each suspension) I need to provide not only these but also ... this is funny ... my G+ account number and ... ready for this? My name. Incredibly, Google is beginning to rank right up there with Lycos/Tripod for "inept".
BTW I've been using some variant of bentrem as online identity since 1995. That's 16 years. So now Google don't like it ... big bad google ... I'm numb with fear and dread. *NOT!!*
NB: Anyone going to my G+ account will not see anything like, "Account Suspended; Under Review for Name Violation."
I guess Google's masters of things social found that too difficult. Intead there's simply "Profile Not Found" (in oversized type, bold). Truly indicative of their attitude.
Before we get into the meat of things, this ... from Currently Google's "community standards" policy on names:
google.com/support/ ... ?answer=1228271 says that Google+ works "best" (and only) in the "identified state". This means that Google+ profiles are required to belong to a single human (businesses are not yet supported), and to "use the name your friends, family or co-workers usually call you".So spare me the, "You should be grateful. And remember that G+ is only alpha/beta/fieldtesting" ... if that's so, then why suspend accounts on such flimsy grounds? Folk who can't think their way out of a wet paper bag should just shush and go work at Google.
